Federal & Military Security Glazing, Blast Proof Windows & Bullet Resistant Film
FSJ Tactical hardens federal offices, military installations, and government facilities with DefenseLite security glazing tested for forced entry, ballistic, blast, and hurricane threats.
Federal buildings and military installations face the widest range of threats of any facility type: forced entry, active shooters, civil unrest, and explosive blast. In nearly every scenario, unprotected glass is where the damage starts. FSJ Tactical retrofits that glass with DefenseLite security glazing so your facility is protected without a full curtain-wall or window replacement.
Why Glass Is the Priority in Government Hardening
Ordinary annealed or tempered glass fails in a fraction of a second. In a blast, the pressure wave turns window glass into high-velocity fragments, which cause a large share of blast injuries. In a forced-entry attack, a single strike can open a path into a lobby. And in an active-shooter event, glass offers no meaningful delay.
Hardening government facilities enhances the security and resilience of buildings against physical attack, shootings, and bombings. DefenseLite products are engineered specifically for this environment and are designed to blend with existing architecture, so protection doesn't advertise itself.
Recommended DefenseLite Systems for Federal & Military Sites
Main Entry, Lobby Glass & Curtain Walls
BulletShield ballistic glazing provides both forced-entry and ballistic resistance at the most exposed openings. DefenseLite CVS reinforces large curtain-wall glass without changing the façade.
Perimeter Windows
DefenseLite Pro delivers ASTM F3561 Level 8 forced-entry resistance plus hurricane and blast testing for ground-floor and accessible windows.
Security Checkpoints
Bullet-resistant transaction windows, pass-through trays, counters, and the Mobile SafeShield create protected positions for screening and security personnel.
Interior Safe Zones
SafeSuite combines security glazing, UL 752 wall panels, and bullet-resistant doors to create hardened rooms within existing offices.
Tested Performance
DefenseLite Pro and BulletShield are system-tested, meaning the panel, frame, fasteners, and attachment method are evaluated together the way they'll be installed in the field. Testing includes:
- ASTM F3561 Level 8 forced-entry resistance after a simulated active-shooter attack (DefenseLite Pro)
- ASTM F1233 forced-entry testing (Class 2.4)
- ASTM F1642 blast testing at Class 10 psi and 90 psi-msec
- ASTM E1886/E1996 hurricane impact for Miami-Dade wind zone 5
- UL 752 ballistic ratings (BulletShield, doors, panels, transaction windows)
For mission-critical or classified spaces, FSJ Tactical can coordinate with your security consultant to match configurations to project-specific threat criteria and applicable standards such as DoD UFC 4-010-01 minimum antiterrorism requirements.
Retrofit Instead of Replace
Replacing government glazing with traditional ballistic or blast glass means long lead times, heavy panels, new framing, and structural review. DefenseLite overlay systems install on the interior or exterior of existing frames using vented extrusions, structural tapes, and security anchors. The result:
- Shorter project timelines and less disruption to operations
- Lower cost than full glass replacement
- No change to the building's historic or architectural character
- Protection of the primary glass, which rarely breaks once shielded
Protecting People, Information, and Operations
Federal facilities don't just protect people. They protect sensitive records, communications, and equipment. Layering DefenseLite systems by Zones of Defense puts the strongest protection at primary entries and lobbies, appropriate protection at side entries and exterior windows, and targeted protection for interior offices and secure rooms.
Plan your next hardening project with FSJ Tactical. We install nationwide and can support budgeting, specification, and phased installation for federal, state, and military facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can DefenseLite be installed on an occupied federal building?
Yes. DefenseLite systems retrofit over existing glazing, so installation is typically done opening by opening with minimal disruption. Work can be phased around operations, secure areas, and access schedules.
What blast testing does DefenseLite have?
DefenseLite Pro and BulletShield have been tested to ASTM F1642 at Class 10 psi and 90 psi-msec. The interior-mounted polycarbonate shield is designed to capture primary glass fragments so they do not fly into occupied space.
Which product provides bullet resistance?
BulletShield is the DefenseLite ballistic product. It is a UL 752-rated retrofit glazing system that can be configured for different threat levels. Bullet-resistant doors, transaction windows, wall panels, and the Mobile SafeShield extend ballistic protection beyond the glass.
Can the systems match the existing building appearance?
Yes. Framing can be powder coated to match existing mullions, and the polycarbonate shields are optically clear, so the exterior elevation remains essentially unchanged.
Do you work with architects and security consultants?
Yes. FSJ Tactical can support threat assessments, provide product data and CSI Section 08 88 53 specification content, and coordinate with your architect, security consultant, and facilities team.
