FSJ TacticalBulletShield™ Ballistic Glazing | FSJ Tactical

BulletShield Bullet Resistant Glazing, "Body Armor for Windows"

A UL 752-rated retrofit ballistic glazing system that turns existing doors, windows, and storefronts into bullet resistant openings without structural modifications or full glass replacement.

Glass is a building's weakest link, and in an active-shooter event it's the first barrier an attacker has to defeat. BulletShield™, dubbed "Body Armor for Windows," is a UL 752-rated ballistic security glazing system that gives existing doors, windows, and storefronts real bullet resistance at a fraction of the cost and disruption of traditional bulletproof glass.

Keep the Bad Guys Out with Retrofit Ballistic Protection

BulletShield is designed to reinforce existing glazing without structural modifications. It's available in polycarbonate-based and glass-clad composite configurations, so protection can be customized to the threat while maintaining optical clarity and daylighting. Each system is custom-fabricated for the threat level, budget, and existing glazing conditions.

Ballistics, Blasts, and Forced Entry

BulletShield doesn't just stop bullets. A blast from an explosion expands outward until it meets walls, windows, and doors, and glass turns into deadly projectiles. BulletShield contains fragmented glass so it can't harm occupants, and it meets the glazing industry's most trusted ballistic and blast standards.

Testing BulletShield
Ballistic UL 752 bullet-resisting ratings; configurations for handgun through rifle threats
Forced entry ASTM F1233
Blast ASTM F1642 Class 10 psi and 90 psi-msec
Hurricane ASTM E1886/E1996, Miami-Dade wind zone 5
Active shooter 5-aa1 test
Thickness (polycarbonate line) 0.5" to 2.5"; thicker panels stop larger threats
Warranty 2 to 15 years depending on system

System Anatomy

Vented Extrusion

Mounts to the existing frame and creates a standoff between the ballistic shield and the primary glass, with venting to prevent condensation.

Structural Anchoring

High-strength anchoring secures the system to the existing glazing with flex, tensile, and tear strength under attack.

Ballistic Shield

UV-capped clear polycarbonate or glass-clad composite attached with security fasteners and elastomeric VHB tape.

Custom Finish

Powder-coated framing matches existing storefront and window systems, so the installation is nearly invisible.

Benefits

  • Safeguards against gunfire, forced entry, and smash-and-grab
  • Cost-effective alternative to traditional bulletproof glass
  • Maintains visibility, daylight, and aesthetics
  • Polycarbonate configurations won't fracture or white out under attack
  • Protects the primary glass from breaking
  • Reduces street noise and improves the energy efficiency of existing glass
  • Proprietary sacrificial surface film resists graffiti
  • May lower insurance costs

Beyond Windows

BulletShield ballistic materials also protect non-window surfaces: bullet-resistant doors, wall panels, desks and counters, transaction windows, and mobile ballistic panels on wheels for temporary safe zones. Combine them in a SafeSuite for a complete hardened room.

Where BulletShield Fits

BulletShield is Security Level IV, the highest level in the DefenseLite system, covering access denial, smash-and-grab prevention, active shooter, hurricane, blast, and ballistic protection. It's the recommended Zone 1 solution for primary entries and lobbies at schools, government buildings, police stations, courthouses, banks, hospitals, houses of worship, and retail. Frequently Asked Questions

Is BulletShield bulletproof?

No glazing is truly "bulletproof." BulletShield is bullet resistant, meaning it is tested and rated under UL 752 to stop specific calibers and numbers of shots. FSJ Tactical will match the configuration to the threat level identified in your assessment.

How is BulletShield different from bullet proof window film?

Window film applied to ordinary glass does not carry a ballistic rating. BulletShield is a rigid ballistic glazing system, in polycarbonate or glass-clad composite configurations, mounted to the existing frame and independently tested to UL 752.

Can BulletShield be installed on the inside of my windows?

Yes. BulletShield can be installed on the interior or exterior of existing window and door glass by certified installers. It is weather-sealed and engineered for removal if needed.

Will BulletShield white out or shatter when hit?

Polycarbonate BulletShield configurations are not glass, so they do not fracture or "white out" the way glass-based ballistic panels can. Visibility is maintained after impact.

What warranty comes with BulletShield?

Warranties range from a minimum of 2 years up to 15 years depending on the system, with custom warranties and service agreements available.

Can BulletShield lower my insurance costs?

It may. Some insurers recognize ballistic and forced-entry upgrades. FSJ Tactical can provide documentation to share with your carrier.
